A call for (legit) reviews!

Can you help a great indie author?

Hey everyone, I have a favor to ask! If any of you have started reading my new series on Kindle (The Vaettir Dark Fantasy) could you possibly take the time to leave an Amazon review? Amazon is being a butt and rejecting reviews from members of my review team (no idea why). If any of you would be willing to help me out with an honest review, I will reward you with unicorns, a pot of gold, and a castle in the sky (all of these things are invisible, but my love for you will be real). Also for any of you who have never even heard of the series, the first is currently free. *nudge nudge wink wink*. Also, hey look, new cover! Thank you a million times in advance!!

Gabriel, Path of Angels Book 4

Gabriel cover picThe end is in sight.

To stop Uriel from freeing Lucifer, Gabriel and his brothers must fall and go to Hell. It is a sacrifice Gabriel is not entirely ready to make. Will he fight alongside his brothers or forge his own path? There is only one choice.

Alexander doesn’t want to help Uriel nor does he trust him, but the angel has promised him a better life. He swore to protect Charlie, and he’ll do whatever it takes. When he meets the archangels and learns the depth of Uriel’s lies, he understands the true meaning of sacrifice. If there’s any hope of stopping Lucifer from being freed, Alexander, Charlie, Zephyr and Lake will have to get to Hell and help Gabriel and his brothers in the fight against Uriel.

The path is finally ending, but the price may be too high.

My Review of Gabriel

Genre: Fantasy/Paranormal
Warning: some LGBT
This was an exciting ending to this series. Gabe was reluctant to begin this journey and carried his anger, fear and loneliness with him. I learned more about his character and source of his anger when he journeyed back to his hometown. How dreadful and heartbreaking that experience was for him. He desperately wants to just lead a normal life, love and be loved as his brothers have found mates. His rage at God for the path he must follow drives a wedge between him and his brothers. In order to stop Lucifer from being released on earth, he knew he must fall from God’s grace, but he is very reluctant to do so. His meeting of Alexander and Charlie (both nephilims) helped him to see and follow his God chosen path, albeit, reluctantly.
I found the character of Charlie most interesting even though she doesn’t speak. Author, Patricia Josephine has fleshed her out nicely. We don’t learn the incident that caused this only that it was a past trauma. I enjoyed this series immensely.

What’s in a name?
Gabriel
Angelic Messenger
Gabriel, an archangel and one of the two highest ranking angels in Judeo-Christian and Islamic lore. Her name means “strength of God”. She is a unique archangel in the sense that it is almost certain she is the only female angel in the higher echelons, although some believe there are no female angels. Gabriel fosters joy, truth, justice and love. She grants wisdom in interpreting our dreams and visions.

Well, in Path of Angels Gabe is a guy and would probably be grumpy to read this. He is all about justice though. Love, he wants it for sure, but isn’t very open about it. He’s really a big grouch.

Selective Mutism
When I was writing book four in the series, I knew right off that Charlie wouldn’t speak. She can speak, but chooses not to because of an event in her past. It was a slow evolution to being mute too. Little by little, she said less and less until by the time Alexander meets her, she barely speaks. (When she was in school, she would if called upon, but she never went out of her way to talk.)

In the first draft, she did have one line, but then I cut it. After getting beta notes and editor notes, I ended up having her speak again when I completely rewrote chapter four. I thought it would add a little weight to the scene. If she was saying that then it was important.

What causes Charlie not to speak isn’t shown in the story because Alexander accepts it as part of who she is. He’s spent his whole life being judge, so he vowed never to judge her when she offered friendship so freely. I also didn’t want to make it a big deal, like it was something to pity her for. Charlie doesn’t speak, but she knows how to be heard.

Meet Jophiel! the joker in the group! but he knows when to be serious. Sometimes you wouldn’t think he would be an archangel. Here is an interview with him:

1––Let’s start with the basics. Tell us a bit about yourself and what makes you tick.
Joe: Hi, my name is Joe and I’m an alcoholic. KIDDING! I shouldn’t joke about that. Especially for Zade’s sake. *Joe flops down on a couch, kicking his leg up on the coffee table* I’m the oldest of us four. The comedian. Don’t listen to Gabe. Nothing diffuses tension better than a joke. I do have a serious side to me. What we do is dangerous and one misstep could get us killed. I won’t risk my brothers.

2––Do you have any hobbies, favorite TV shows, books? Anything you fangirl/boy over?
Joe: Call of Duty, but I don’t get to play it much. I guess I’m living in a video game in a way now. Not sure that’s better. Video games aren’t as life threatening. Unless you count, spending way too much time sitting and playing instead of moving.

3––What is one thing from your past you’re most proud of?
Joe: Jumping off the church in my hometown and trying to fly. None of my brothers wanted to. They were content to stay on the ground. Come on, you have to be daring and willing to bust your leg.

5––Let’s play favorites:
Pepsi or Coke?
Joe: Whatever one wants to sponsor me. *grins*
Pie or Cake?
Joe: What about Pie with cake filling? You feeling me?
White or dark chocolate?
Joe: I’ll take both. Why discriminate? *winks*
Playstation 4 or Xbox 1or WiiU?
Joe: Xbox 1 baby!
Paperback book or ebook?
Joe: Reading? Ugh.
Summer or winter?
Joe: Actually, I prefer fall. Not too hot, not too cold. Plus, there’s Halloween and I firmly believe you are never to big to play dress up. Especially when free candy is involved.
Puppies or kittens?
Joe: Kittens all the way.
Vampires or werewolves?
Joe: Witches. They are much hotter than a corpse or fur ball.

My Review of Jophiel

by Cleo deLancey

Another great read in the Path of Angels series: 5 Stars.
I very much enjoyed this addition to the Path of Angels series. This is not a “stand alone” book as the importance of the information and dynamics of the characters in the previous two books (Michael, book one, and Zadekiel, book 2) are paramount to the enjoyment and understanding of the plot, as a whole, in this, the third installment.
This book delves deeper into the character of Jophiel (Joe) who is also an Archangel. The group gets to learn more about Lake, Michael’s boyfriend, as Michael returns to the group to continue the mission of stopping Lucifer from taking human form and unleashing hell on earth.
Enter, Mariangela, also a fallen. She is pregnant and remorseful of her role in the rebellion of some of the angels. She harbors a secret that is vital to the group of four (Michael, Zadekiel, Jophiel and Gabriel). She is fearful of them as she knows their duty is to banish all the fallen and their offspring back into hell.
Author, Patricia Josephine, has written a tense, descriptive script that moved the plot further towards the ultimate showdown with the leader of the fallen and his minions.
I enjoyed learning about Joe and his special abilities. There is an interesting plot twist in this one that I wasn’t expecting.

Zadekiel, Path of Angels 2 NEW RELEASE

ZadekielPoACover

The path is lost.

With Michael gone, the mantle of leadership falls to Zadekiel. In this time of darkness, with tempers running short, Zade struggles to guide his brothers. Hope comes in the form of a green haired woman with a unique gift. She represents a way back to the path they lost when Michael disappeared.

Zephyr fills books with cryptic poetry, a powerful compulsion, which is more a curse than a blessing. With no control over her ability, she struggles to live a normal life. When she meets Zade, he insists her ability is a gift from God. Reluctantly, she agrees to join the cause–it’s hard to dispute a man with wings.

Now the path is found, but one question remains. Will it lead to further darkness?

My Review of this Book

Another well written great story from author, Patricia Josephine.  Josephine’s witting style has a  smooth quick flow that drew me in and held my attention.

I really like a story that starts with action, as this one does, then goes into backstory to fill us in on what has been happening and why.

This is book two in the Path of Angels, following Michael.  I was able to learn more about Zadekiel, as he is the main character in this installment.  He is an interesting character as he battles with the mantel of leadership after Michael left.  He meets a girl, Zephyr, who has her own set of quirks.  She is not ready (who is?) to accept that there are really angels and demons in this world. The pair must be a winner as their names both start with Z!  This story relates the struggles of the remaining three Archangels and their search for a lost book that has the power to release the devil on earth.  These heros, even though they possess wings and powers, have a very human side.  They struggle with the same human emotions we all do, so it is easy to identify and sympathize with them.

This tale ended in a cliff hanger, leaving me anxiously awaiting the next installment.  Thank you, Patricia Josephine, for sharing your talent with us, and talented you are!  A very good tale, interesting characters and a wonderful plot line.

Attention Generous Children’s Authors-Thank you! UPDATE

Another awesome post by Author, Michelle Eastman and her programme of getting books to Children.

Michelle Eastman Books

Wow! That’s all I can say about the wonderful authors who donated books to MARCHing Books to Kids of incarcerated parents book drive. I dropped off another huge collection today, and I was able to spend time in the VNS library. It was great to see all of the books on the shelves, but the best part was seeing all of your books. I was able to “Drop Everything And Read” a few days late, and I read many of your awesome books for the first time! You authors are as talented as you are generous. It was a pleasure to read the books you’ve created. The VNS staff members are very appreciative of the outpouring of donations from authors in 12 US states, and 3 additional countries. I’ll have the final book count very soon, but I can tell you the sentiment outweighs that total by loads and…

Record successes

I originally posted this last November, but I like the idea so much as I want to promote ways that families can build self-esteem in each other and create a loving bond.

TalesForTheYoung

A neat idea I would like to share with you!

Get a large jar and label it  Family Success Stories or Family Name Great Stories. You decide how to decorate it.

Good_Things_Jar_5

Add stories of family successes and milestones.  It maybe a trip to the zoo, participation in a marathon or other charitable work.  Perhaps some reading milestones at school or at home.  How about adding that badge at scouts or graduating to a new music or dance class? Did the little one learn to ride the two wheeler? Did Dad or Mom get a raise at work or other work life milestones?  You decide what those successes may be. Remember to celebrate the little things as well.  Build self-esteem as a family.

If they can, have all family members add to this jar, not just Mom or Dad.  Have Grandparents or other extended family members join in the celebration of…
